Here are two great opportunities coming up:
Porter County Give Day
Matched gift campaigns are a great way for dollars to make the biggest impact. On November 8, 2012 (this Thursday), the Porter County Community Foundation is holding a matched gift campaign to support 17 local non-profits that fight homelessness in Porter County. Every gift made that day (12:01 to 11:59) will be matched with $55,000+ provided by partner organizations. Donate online at http://www.portercountygiveday.org/ or at the GIVE Day headquarters (The Times offices, 1111 Glendale, Valparaiso) from 8am to 5pm on Thursday.
National Philanthropy Day – Nov 15, 2012
The Association of Fundraising Professionals Indiana Northwest Chapter is hosting the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon on November 15, 2012 at the Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, IN. Andrew Watt, president and CEO of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, will be speaking from 11:15am to 1:30pm about “Advancing a Philanthropic Vision in a Culturally Diverse Region.” The public is welcome to attend. Registration is due by Thursday, November 8 with payment ($35 AFP members, $50 non-members) to Andrea at (219) 252-6223 or email@example.com.
I love this quote from the AFP website:
“Philanthropy is so powerful and inspiring precisely because it is voluntary—that through the goodness of our hearts, through our need to connect, through our desire to see a better world, we come together to improve the quality of life for all people.”.
