Responding to the Drought in Africa

My husband and I have begun to talk about our philanthropic response to the drought in Africa, and I've started to do some research to find aid groups that are on the ground and able to help. I wanted to share some links to information that would be useful if you are considering a gift to help people suffering from a disaster overseas.
Right now 12 million people around the Horn of Africa are in need of emergency assistance to survive. Find information about the humanitarian crisis at the USAID. In addition the USAID and Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) partner with InterAction member agencies, ngos, that are providing aid.
On the InterAction site, you can read what each organization does in Africa, link to their websites, and make a contribution if you so choose. The USAID and CIDI websites offer good information about what to consider when donating abroad.
